The Ultimate Guide to Hometown Hockey

Hometown Hockey Season 3 kicks off on October 15 in Newmarket, Ont., and we wanted to make sure you didn’t miss a single opportunity to experience everything you can do on site when you visit us across the country.First off, everything to do on site is FREE. Yeah, you heard us; free. Enjoy a slice of pizza from Dr. Oetker and Giuseppe himself, warm up with hot chocolate, grab a photo with NHL alumni, watch our broadcast live, and the list goes on. Family-friendly programming is available all weekend and is designed to have something for everyone, from toddlers to great-grandparents.HTH Blog PostAs you arrive on site, you’ll see a couple of tents and we suggest you head inside. Not only are the tents warm, but once there, you’ll discover fun activities and may even get to meet a hockey player or two! Here’s some of what you can expect inside each tent:The Rogers Tent and Warming Lodge:

From virtual autographs, to a Zamboni-driving challenge, and a Spotify music challenge, you’ll find tons to do inside the Rogers Tent and Warming Lodge. NHL alumni are also known to stop by, so you’ll want to keep an eye on the schedule to get a photo and autograph.

Check out Vancouver Canucks forward Jake Virtanen getting a virtual autograph from ex-teammate Dan Hamhuis:

And check out country music superstar Jess Moskaluke taking a shot at the Spotify Challenge and Zamboni Challenge.

Test your skills like Moskaluke and pick up a virtual autograph like Virtanen did inside the Rogers Tent and Warming Lodge all season long!
Even if you aren’t into virtual autographs or haven’t had a chance to brush up on your music trivia, there’s always hot chocolate and a place to take a load off inside our Warming Lodge. Once you’ve regained your energy, get ready for your close-up and get your photo on the cover of Sportsnet Magazine.

On to the Scotiabank Tent:

The Scotiabank Tent celebrates Canada’s “5th Season,” otherwise known as the hockey season. While what’s inside the Scotiabank Tent is being kept a surprise, we can definitely tell you that Scotiabank will be bringing back some of your favourite NHL alumni and will host meet and greets all season long. But just like the Rogers Tent, check the schedule and plan ahead…those line-ups can get long!

How hard is your shot?

McDonald’s is back with their hardest shot and shooting accuracy challenges, and we’re looking forward to seeing who can beat the record 99 mph shot on the board. Who holds the record? We can’t tell you. But we can tell you that you will forever be immortalized if you break 99.

While the tents sound appealing, you’ll want to venture outside to check out the incredible musical performances, games and challenges happening on the stage all weekend long.

And stick around Sunday night, because every week we broadcast our show LIVE from the mobile studio. Help make our broadcast special by being part of the crowd on site and cheering your heart out.

See you on the road for Hometown Hockey Season 3.
